7 reasons to choose vegan for weight loss.............

7 Great Reasons to
Choose a Vegan Weight Loss Diet

Here are our 7 favorite reasons to choose a Vegan weight loss diet:

1. Our bodies have no nutritional requirements for any animal products.

We do not need to eat animal protein (meat), the mammary secretions from animals (milk, cheese, yogurt, etc.), or any other body part of animals. In fact, study after study proves we would actually be healthier if we completely eliminated food from animal origin from our diets. According to T. Colin Campbell, PhD, in his book “The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-term Health ,” “There are virtually no nutrients in animal-based foods that are not better provided by plants.”

2. You’ll feel better and have more energy!

Animal foods are laden with saturated fats and chemicals. Without those icky things in your body, you’ll lower your odds of getting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and numerous other diseases related to an animal-based diet. And of course, with more energy, you’ll be more active, and the more active you are, the more calories you’ll burn!

3. You’ll look more youthful and vibrant!

A Vegan Weight Loss diet is more cleansing, easier on your body, and much more nourishing than eating anything that comes from an animal. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes and grains contain more phyto-nutrients, water, antioxidants and fiber—all of which cause your cells to thrive, thus you as a whole will thrive.

4. You’ll be skinnier!

Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes are more nutrient-dense, yet lower calories than animal products. So, ounce per ounce, a plant-based diet has a more vitamins and minerals than an animal-based diet, but with fewer calories.

5. Eating a Vegan Weight Loss d diet will save you money!!

And who doesn’t want to save money? In the beginning, as you’re transitioning, it may cost a bit more as you figure things out, but once you’re settle into your new lifestyle and eating habits you’ll see your grocery bills decline.

6. Psychologically, emotionally, you’ll feel more peaceful.

You won’t be contributing to the needless deaths of Billions of innocent animals, the destruction of thousands of acres of land (needed for cattle grazing or food production for animals), and in relation to #4, you’ll be contributing to the betterment of our planet—how amazing you’ll feel knowing you’re making this world a more peaceful place simply by choosing to eat a plant-based diet.

7. You’ll be doing yourself, your family, and the planet a huge service!

It takes enormous amounts more soil/land, water, and fossil fuels to meet the needs of a person eating a diet based on the consumption of animals than a person eating a plant-based diet

HIking volcano, feeling light and lean as ever..

I Hiked a steep volcano....about 3500 feet straight up..crawling the last hour. total up time approx 2hrs 45 min, total down time approx 1hr 30min. breathtaking views. very strenuous. had a great guide by the name of LOUIE here in Camiguin.

I am leaner and lighter than ever before in my life. I have been 217lbs of fat and muscle before, and now I am around 140lbs of ripped vitality, I have experienced both ways of living, this is by far superior. It is challenging to get to this level, but more simple to maintain. I have experienced many ways of eating in the last 6years, SAD(standard american death diet), Vegetarian, Vegan, Rawvegan with some cooked vegan, All RAw vegan, Fruitarian with some raw vegan, and now All fruitarian for 3months. I am practicing fruitarian lifestyle now and loving it. I am allowed to eat anything I want if I choose, so I am not feeling that restrictive rebellious feeling and then Binging on the bad stuff (I draw the line with Vegan due to animal rights).
I believe if we train our mindset to be 'practicing' certain ways of eating (not requiring), we dont feel that scarcity mindset. I believe we should have all the foods that tempt us available at all times and know we can eat them if we choose (no restrictions!), but focus on how we feel mentally, physically, emotionally afterwards.
I am now eating less durian than before because I feel much better in the nights and the next day. My secret is to eat half as much durian as I used to, then follow it with enough delicious bananas to satiate me. It is amazing the results. IT is challenging at times to switch to bananas when the durian is sooo perfect, but the payoff is huge....but I dont have to do this, I can go back to full on bloated over full durian eating and be MILES ahead of 98% of the worlds eating habbits, so no pressure.....that is key for me as a 'rebellious' person..i must not ever tell myself NO. (even yesterday I told myself I was going to check out of my guesthouse after 10days and go somewhere new, well guess what?? I totally REBELLED and stayed just because I said I had to, ehehhehheheh...)any body have that rebellious nature??

I saw a sick and hungry pig on my trek, does it matter?

I was walking up this 3km road full of LUSHNESS. Green galore, trees, bushes, flowers, coconut palms, etc.... complete heaven nature...similar to Hawaii island, but 1/10th the cost (internet 30cents/hr, acomodation $3/night, 7km ride in open air jeepnee $10cents, banana/mango/papaya/melon/tropical fruits all about 20cents/lb, etc..)and here in Philippines you see many families living their simple lives, animals, chickens, pigs, cows, goats, birds, And the philippino children and adults staring and saying 'hello Friend', "hello friend", "Where are you going", "whats your name", etc...

I came around a bend in the road and saw a pig laying down on the side of the road by a coconut tree. He was skinny. I havent ever seen a skinny pig around here (they are getting fat as possible ready for their fun slaughter experience). This pig was breathing heavy and panting and not looking to swell. At first I kept walking and said to myself, that is life. I then stopped down the road 50 meters and thought about what I should do in this situation if anything. The pig may be dying of some sickness or starving or something.
Is it my duty to do something in the middle of nature, or let nature run its course? Then I thought of all our slaughter houses in USA and how I am educating people daily about veganism and handing out fliers that explain it...I thought that would be hipocritical to walk by a suffering pig and do nothing, just because it isn't my pig or my country.
I thought, 'I can't save every animal'...(But then Mother Theresa was in my head, her quote, "If you can't feed 100 people, feed just one").

Knowing my personality is not strong with compassion, as I am a 'powerful choleric' type and have other strengths (which always reminds me how the other more compassionate personalities like many of my family and friends will most likely become vegans when they have enough information).
The decision came to me to at least go buy this pig something to eat, so I went to the little corner tiny village store that sells only processed junk food (due to heavy marketing by fat americans most likely)...no fruit available in the middle of fruit heaven, hehehhehehhe, I had to laugh at that moment.)
So, I bought the suffering pig something that looked good.... some bread stuffed with artificially colored and flavored berry jam....
the pig was happy to see me and scarfed down about 8 pieces...I felt wonderful and learned alot about how much more compassion I have room to develop.

BTW, I saved 2 of the bread to do an experiment with other animals, Most the skinny dogs wouldn't eat it and another Pig that was fat was eating veggies and wounldn't eat the artificial bread either..i tasted it in my mouth (didn't swallow, Im still raw, hehehehe), it tasted fake and dry, buy Ok to me, i could see how people get hooked on it, but I would prefer the taste of juicy fruit since I have the choice.

nice 2hour walking today
nice swim sprints in the pool! you ever do those??? ( Instead of long slow swimming, lately i enjoy going as hard as I can in frontcrawl for 20meters, then turn back and swim underwater hard, then rest a few minutes....i believe this is great surf training)

I found Durian here in Camiguin!!! It was an amzing situation stumbling upon durian in a fruit market that never has it, I was on a wacked out adrenalin high all manic and obsessive about it, bought it fast as possible and ignored my rules for slowly eating, wow a true addict!

picture: me in Internet cafe, Camiguin

Hello,
I have been spending lots of time on internet this week, about 3or4 hours day!! I love to read about fruitarians and watch youtube vids on vegans and reasons to be vegans. I have created some great /playlists' to share with family and friends. My friend Chris and maybe his wife Shelly are going to watch many dvds on veganism for one month, I will pay them each $25 for each they watch, 20 maximum. HI Chris!! you seee my first playlist? HI Sis and mIssy and Justin!! they are my family and r watching vegan dvds also...I will get to payout some serious cash this month and will love that feeling of helping out and contributing to the vegan movement. I really love to read Missy and Justins Critiques on the dvds. I feel really good learning what they have learned. I have not seen many dvds myself yet, so it is fun to get their perspectives and watch them practice superior healthy living!

Off to a Soda springs today or waterfall to enjoy the cooler water and shaded environment. I enjoyed a hotsprings yesterday...met some American Expats. I am hanging out with a local Philippino girl occasionally..just friends now, no kisses yet (I dont think I can kiss a meat eater ever, the thought disgusts me)...She is interested in Veganism though.

better to be BIG or slim?

I have been practicing fruitarian eating for 3 solid months now.

I am practicing eating enough food as opposed to more than enough food. My mind is becoming very tuned into what my body really needs for fuel.
I am slimer and leaner than ever and feel my lightest and best.
I compare myself to other men around the Philippines and most the men that look the best to me have sunken checks and prominent jawbones and are about 3% body fat, many are working very hard all day on little food at 30-80 years old.
When my body normalizes, I will be lean and strong.
The shock this will cause most of the USA is probably very high.

It is AMAZING how little fruit I need to thrive and survive. My intake has been decreasing daily, I do allow myself to eat whatever I want and as much as I want, so that I have no Rebellious issues to binge anymore....I want to feel great all the time and I am noticing that I do feel the best eating less.
I am fortunate as ever to have made the time to truly experience the ups and downs of 'Natural Hygiene' and continue practicing this for the rest of my life...WOW!!! I got chills for how I have designed my dream life.

When I was 18-25 years old I was in my Bigger is Better phase of life. I would train in gym with weights 6days a week for 2-3 hours a day. I would drink one gallon of Cows MILK, eat a few pounds of chicken and red meat and fish, eat eggs by halfdozen, drink weight gainer protein powders. I would eat when i felt a 'hint' of empty stomach (actually 3hours away from being hungry yet) until Overfull and hurting most of the time. It was my mission to get BIG.
HOw did society react to this? happy for me, positive, encouraging me to gain and be big, accepting my stuffing my face with Death food. My mom even helped me calculate how much more I need to eat to gain a certain amount of weight, bless her heart! I remember sitting with you MOM at a little restarant in East Albany, you brought your calorie info from your weightwatcher diet and we had fun together.

My POINT is that there is no support to be lean/slim/skinny in our country. It worries people. Or does it? Are most people just jealous? OR is it creating true worry? Why do we in the USA think that we know what is best for the world? By traveling the world only 2years, I believe I have seen what is a far superior way to live regarding healthy physiques and energy.....if I can help these healthy looking people eat no meat and dairy that will be awesome!!

yesterday my meals were the following:

7am- wake up
10am-eat one pineapple(about 250cals)
2pm- eat one papaya (about 700cals 2.5lbs)
6pm-eat 12bananas (about 700cals, smaller ones)
9:30pm-eat 4 small bananas ( 200cals, emotional binge session before bed)

activity:
2mile walk

wandering around Camiguin island

I really enjoy wandering in the mornings after some bodymovement. Today I did a little jog for 20minute on the beach, then sat in the sun and practice quieting my racing mind, then swam 20minutes. Then I checked out of my resort ($14/night splurge). I started wandering on the main street here. I had my backpack and my fruit bag. It was wonderful to see all the green and lushness that this island provides. Many fruit trees. Most abundant are Papayas and coconuts. I had my eyes up looking for new fruits to forage. I havent had many mangos from the trees here as the season is usally april/may. I found a few trees that had some mangos under them, I collected about 15 of the best ones and had a nice little roadside feast! Then I found a large 'backyard' papaya for sale on roadside for 40cents from the owner, I added that to my fruit bag which already had some super ripe 'lakatan' variety bananas (amazing flavor!! fruity flavored banana!)...the 'Tondan' variety is soo nice also.
Made my way to the ARDENT hot springs. This was sooo nice on a slightly cool day. Me being very slim and lean, I feel cool under 75degrees now, which I love because I never sweat in the tropics anymore unless I push myself to.

IN The wonderful hot springs, some Philippinos were chatting with me and were interested in the vegan message. One lady committed to practicing one week vegan to reduce her fat. 4 Frenchee were there from Normandy. One couple from Austria...all adventure type travelors. I shared my big Papaya with many of them. It appeared the French people didnt know what it was after being in PapayaLand for one month! I guess they enjoy the cooked animals much more.
One French man has a small business selling chicken sandwiches with french fries on them. Knowing I was vegan, He said "it wouldnt be good for you to eat because its not healthy". I couldn't resist and said, "it isn't good for ANYONE to eat, not just me..unless you want cancer, heart disease, obesity."
But I must always remind others, that I used to eat all that animal food and didn't think twice about it due to Years of advertising conditioning and living in a society that rarely questions beliefs that have been around for 10plus years.
Most of the people I talk to around SE ASIA dont have any idea that eating animals and dairy may be less healthy than vegetarian.

street boys in CEBU, fighting over 2cents worth of water

These boys that hang outside the fried chicken eaterie ask for money all day long. completedly filthy in dirt all over their skin, ages 5-12 approx. They are always saying 'give me money' and touching people on their arms with little soft annoying touches. I believe that the touches are designed to irritate people enough to comply. I have made a decision not to give to Beggars because I feel enough other people will. I prefer to give to the unexpected poor, the ones that are searching for things of value, or doing something. So I just sit and chat with these boys and give them some of my time. This time I was getting water bottle refilled for 2cents, I noticed they wanted water. I thought, wow, these kids are not just wanting money to go buy candy, they are at a survival level. I put 2cents in the water machine and one boy started filling his litte plactic bag with water. The other 5 boys started shoving and pushing and grabbing trying to get some of this water. They ended up piercing the plastic bag wasting the water. That one boy started crying and walked away. I chased him down and gave hime enough money to buy a large plate of food (45cents). I made a point for the other kids to see this and teach them a lesson to not break others water bags again, ehehheh.....the one boy took the money and started running for through traffic because he knew the other boys would chase him and try to take the money, which they did! all the boys were chasing him, dodging traffic. I hope he got a way, but its unlikely. I guess this is an example of were "Survival of the Fittest" will prevail....I better go get more fit today just in case.

making little boy cry in Bohol

I was out for a jog on the beach. It was a tropical windstorm, very high winds blowing things around the beach. Massive amounts of seaweed and garbage and coconuts had accumulated on the hard sand. I saw two children picking through the junk that had been carried to shore. I wanted to help them in some way without them knowing. When they know a westerner gives them some money or something (if it is fruit, I dont care), they probably will began begging from westerners. My idea was to pretend I found money nearby where they were searching for things of value. I got my money in my hands all crinkled up and was about to place it stratigically near where they where looking. All of a sudden they saw me and started running away. This was very odd for me to see, as most kids are wanting to be near me and ask me questions and giggle and laugh. I decided to continue my jog and follow them. The girl (9) and the boy (6) started going faster and keeping an eye on me, then they split in two directions, I followed the easier 'prey'. The boy headed towards the water and I kept chasing him wondering how he got so damn fast at 6years old. Finally the water level was too high for his short legs and he fell face first in the water. I came up to him and he was crying in fear. I grabed his arm and placed a wad of money in his hand (one day's income for an adult $3). The boy looked at the money, stopped crying, looked at me in suprise and astonishment. I just said byebye and turned and jogged away. He ran towards his sister to share the news and was yelling her name....this was fun.
Question: Should I continue to chase kids until they cry, then suprise them with money? hhehhehehe

passing out Vegan Info at animal eateries....

I found the perfect one page print out that explains how to be healthier and eat vegan foods...its wonderful.... it costs 3cents per page to print out here in Philippines. I handed them out to several people today as they were waiting for their food to come. I like to give it to the people after they have just eaten a meal. Usually they are sitting at their table with all the animal bones left on their plates. They appear very sedated and glassy eyed and numb and full and depressed and seem to be telling themselves they should eat less next time and mad at their selves for overeating again (I know this from my own experience, eheheh)...
So there I am! The tall skinnyass American with a smile comes waltzing inside and asks if they speak any english...when they say yes, I give them my nicely folded article and tell them this is for them and their family.

This is what it says, let me know if it is a good thing? I have to make it 'health' related more than saving animals from slaughter, because most dont care about that yet.

Eating for Life

Leading health experts agree that going vegetarian is the single-best thing we can do for ourselves and our families. Healthy vegetarian diets support a lifetime of good health and provide protection against numerous diseases, including our country’s three biggest killers: heart disease, cancer, and strokes. The American Dietetic Association states that vegetarians have “lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; … lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer” and that vegetarians are less likely than meat-eaters to be obese.1 Well-planned vegetarian diets provide us with all the nutrients that we need, minus all the saturated fat, cholesterol, and contaminants found in animal flesh, eggs, and dairy products.

Research has shown that vegetarians are 50 percent less likely to develop heart disease, and they have 40 percent of the cancer rate of meat-eaters.3,4 Plus, meat-eaters are nine times more likely to be obese than vegans are.5

The consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy products has also been strongly linked to osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, asthma, and male impotence. Scientists have also found that vegetarians have stronger immune systems than their meat-eating friends; this means that they are less susceptible to everyday illnesses like the flu.7 Vegetarians and vegans live, on average, six to 10 years longer than meat-eaters.8

A plant-based diet is the best diet for kids, too: Studies have shown that vegetarian kids grow taller and have higher IQs than their classmates, and they are at a reduced risk for heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and other diseases in the long run.10,11 Studies have shown that even older people who switch to a vegetarian or vegan diet can prevent and even reverse many chronic ailments.

said goodbye to Mr. Green for a week or so..

I have decided to travel around The Philippines a bit, since I cant surf now for couple more weeks. My focus is to distribute Vegan info to fast food joints, purchase a hammock with mosquito net, purchase some english books, purchase some dvds, meet some Philippino girls to date, see new beatiful beaches, some treking, eat different tropical fruits...there I go again making myself busy, ehheheh the American way! get busy!

Mr. Green was obviously very aware I was leaving, as he was squealing like a little pig, hehhehhe several Philippinos were watching the departure in amzment it seemed. After I fed him some bananas I left...he was running around letting the rope choke him and squealing...I wanted to cry for what this situation really represents on a larger global scale. This is after only 2 days of hangin out together, and I only am petting him about 30minutes each day, but the rest of the time I was around were he could see me and watch me..and I fed him. The sadness he displays is probably more driven by the food attatchment he has for me, but who knows.

MY pet pig in Philippines, 'Mr. Green'

I decided to rescue a little pig. Most of the pigs are raised for slaughter here in Philippines. I decided to show people how sweet and wonderful these animals are. My little pig is a coupl months old. I named him Mr. Green because he loves the green colored bananas..he even eats the peel. He is a fruitarian of course. I tied him up to my beach front porch so he can see the waves. I cant believe how smart the little devil is!! I have watched him untangle his legs from the rope already several times.
Mr. Green is warming up to me sooo fast...he lets me rub his belly and ears and almost doses off when I do this. I feed him by hand mostly. He wines when I walk away sometimes.
I plan to raise him for a couple weeks then give him to a nearby family to continue raising (and probably slaughter him when I leave).
I hope to walk him through the village with one of my custom "FRIEND NOT FOOD" tshirts. One neighbor boy came over today and watched how I treat this animal which is considered food to most here....next thing I new the boy was petting my pigs belly and so I gave him a banana to feed it.

The pigs sell for $25 here.

It is soo fun seeeing what sort of fruits my pig enjoys. I squat by him as I eat my meals and share with him (healthiest fed pig in Philippines).

I used to eat tons of bacon, sausage growing up as a kid even though we had nice pig ceramics and pictures in our 'pig themed' bathroom my mom created. I just never made the connection back then, living in the city.
...I believe living soo close to nature is really opening my consciousness up more than ever.

lots of time

one week of no surfing...my surfboard hit my backside rib and the pain was intense...I had to sleep sitting up in a chair for 4nights!!! Unbelievable...now I am on the 2nd night of sleeping in a real cushioned bed (3mattresses). I am sooooo grateful to be able to lie down in bed normally now....WOW, the things I take for granted when I am well and healthy, like being able to sleep in a bed as opposed to a chair. I actually love this part of being injuried, it humbles me bigtime.
I have hurt ribs before and they take about one month to heal properly. I can walk and stretch and do some light yoga now, but have been resting mainly. It is REMARKABLE how fast I heal on a nutritious frutarian lifestyle. All the energy that is normally used to digest difficult foods is used to heal my injury. Digesting fruits and coconut waters are soooooo easy on our bodies.

Many hours alone at my place on the water. Soo much time on my hands... I have never tried to speed up time in my life, but now I find myself doing things to pass some time. What a fortunate situation to be in. I used to always want to stop the clock, but now my life is so minimal and sooo full of time. Time flies by when I am helping somebody practice being healthier, when I am sharing fruit, when I am eating fruit, when I am surfing, when I am on the internet, when I am reading a good book, and if I was with my life partner (not yet).

The tropical storm season is here. lots of rain and wind. Sunshine today though. My lifestyle is so flexible that whenever the sun comes out, I have time to soak it up and get my Vitamin D.

Met another Expat in this area....Robert...he is canadian and has been here in the Philippines for 3years...he believes this place is the best in the world...the people are exceptional easy going personalities with dignity. I have to agree so far.

please respond with any feedback or suggestions, as this was a "fly by my seat of my pants" idea.

coconut water only

I just failed on my Coconut water diet. On the 3rd afternoon two ladies brought me the ripest, yummiest looking bananas to my beach house. I bought them to add to my fruit that I donate to others around the village. Then 30minutes later the voice came into my head, You dont need to do this coconut water diet, eat some bananas, they are so ripe and smell sooo amazing. Then I accidentally dropped one and it split open a little, so that was a 'sign' for me, ehehhehhe...I ate two big ones and waited two hours than ate two more big ones, then waited one hour then at 2 more big ones, then one hour later 2 more bigones, then went to bed slightly full....and felt amazing and wonderful.
Next time, I will have to make a more strong decision to complete a certain many days 'No Matter What', that is key to success for me...now back to my frutarian lifestyle (not a diet, I like this name better) which is extremly healthy I believe of all nutritious, ripe, raw, fresh, organic fruits (includes fruits like tomatos, cucumbers, bell peppers when I find them).
